An Afrolatina’s Play Reflects the Dark Reality of Being Negr@ in America

In the wake of police violence and brutality, Robin Hood: An Elegy, a play written by Afrolatina playwright Krysta Gonzalez, is rather timely.  This piece premiered in August of last year at the Vortex in Austin, Texas and it’s themes of violence, racism and anti-blackness ring true a year later.  The play uses the familiar myth of Robin Hood to shine light on the systematic oppression throughout the ages.  It does so with humor, honesty and some early 2000’s R&B songs.
